The Preaching/Teaching Ministry

The greatest passion in Bro. Johnny's life is the preaching / teaching ministry that God has given him.  Truly, he is in his element when he is standing behind the pulpit to share God's message.  There are four opportunities each week to be strengthened in your walk with God through Johnny's preaching and teaching.  Sunday morning during the 10:30 AM worship service; Sunday evening during our 6:00 PM worship; Wednesday evening during our Wednesday Prayer and Bible Study hour at 6:00 PM; and Fridays at 6pm on Cable Channel 6.  Pray for our pastor as he seeks God's face each week so he may deliver to us God's word.

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."  Hebrews 4:12

The Pastor's Heart

Having spent the past 9 years working closely with Brother Johnny it is easy to see what are the most important things upon his heart.  These things that I will list are good and weighty things.  They are things that if our whole church embraced we would most certainly be more like Jesus, and in turn change the world around us.

  • Johnny's deepest desire is for God's Kingdom to come and for God's will to be done.  God's Kingdom and His will truly is at the foundation of every task or idea that we put forth.
  • Seeking God's face in prayer is another focus of Johnny's life.  We cannot know what God is doing or what His will is unless we pray.  The prayer meetings on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings have been crucial to us determining God's will.
  • Johnny believes that it is through the preaching and teaching of God's word that people are saved and the church is brought to maturity.  So much energy and effort are put into this area each week by our pastor, so that we might hear exactly what God wants to say to us.
  • It is also Johnny's strong desire that First Baptist Church in Chickasha becomes the living body of Christ to this generation.  If the world is to see a clear picture of what God is like then it will be up to us to display His love, His character, His mercy and His passion.
  • Lastly, it has always been upon our pastor's heart that First Baptist Church in Chickasha would become a world mission strategy center.  He wants us to literally touch the whole planet with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How to Pray for our Pastor

Here are five area of general prayer needs that are on Brother Johnny's heart.

Please join us in praying for these things:

1.  “Lord, give us cleans hands and a pure heart.”

2.  “Lord, give us a deep hunger and thirst for You, Your Word and Your  Will.”

3.  “Lord, give me the filling and anointing of the Holy Spirit in the ministry of the Word.”

4.  “Lord, give me wisdom and the leadership of the Spirit so I may lead your people.”

5.  “Lord, give me wisdom in leading the staff."
