Johnny Tims has been the pastor of First Baptist Church since 1997. He has beem married to Pearl for the past 49 years and they have 4 children: Steve, Tammy, Veldon and Trina. They are very proud of their 8 incredible grand children. Johnny was raised on ranches in Southwest Texas and Eastern New Mexico. He was not raised in a Christian home. In fact, as he was growing up church was never a part of his family's life. When Johnny was in High School, God used his Christian teachers and his coach, in particular, to lead him to Christ. He was saved, Sunday night, March 6, 1956, just a few months before he graduated from high school. Amazingly, God called him to preach that very night. Johnny graduated from Bledsoe High School in Bledsoe, Texas in 1956. After high school he attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas. In 1960 he received a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. He received his Master of Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1964. Brother Johnny has pastored churches in New Mexico, Texas and Wyoming from 1957 through 1979. In July, 1979 he moved to First Baptist Church in Tipton, Oklahoma. He served that church for eleven years. In July, 1990 they moved to Wellington, Texas, and he served as pastor of First Baptist church there until 1997. In 1997 Johnny became the pastor of First Baptist Church in Chickasha. He has been our much loved pastor for the past 8 years. His heart is for God's kingdom to come and His will to be done at First Baptist Church. His vision is for First Baptist Church to become the living body of Christ in our community and for our church to become a mission strategy center that God can use to reach the whole world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
