School of the Arts

First Baptist Church

324 W. Colorado, Chickasha

              The School of the Arts is a ministry of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha, which takes place after school on Wednesday afternoons.   Art School is provided for all children in 1st -5th grade, with no enrollment cost or tuition, although some elective classes may require instruments, books, or supplies to be provided by the parents.

Classes dismiss at 5:30 pm.  All students will be escorted to the S.E. entrances to be picked up when classes are over.  If you are a drive-thru parent, you will need to enter the line via 3rd street (please see attached map).  If you are a walk-in parent, you will need to park in the small parking lot on 3rd street across the street (east) from the church and come to the East door.

Please Note: Students will only be allowed to leave with authorized persons. Have your pick-up I.D. card with you.  If you do not have your card you will be asked to come inside to show your photo I.D. that will be checked with the list on your child’s enrollment form.

              Choir is required for 1st & 2nd graders, but is no longer a required class for 3rd – 5th graders.  Our desire is to introduce them to music at a young age & encourage the musical talents of those who are interested in pursuing their musical abilities and appreciation for music as they get older.  This will mean that the 3rd – 5th grade students will now be able to pick 2 electives for each semester (choir is and elective).  Students will still be placed in classes on a first come first serve basis.

              Consistent attendance is expected.   ALL Students are expected to maintain an 80% attendance record during the semester.  Some classes will be working on an ongoing project throughout the semester; if your student has absences we cannot guarantee they will have a completed project at the end of the semester.  Irregular attendance will also adversely affect the success of the class as a whole. Please help us to provide a positive experience for your child and the other children by committing to regular attendance. If an absence is unavoidable, please contact the church office at 224-5196 to inform us that your child will be absent.  This will give them an excused absence and allow us to let the teacher know so they may be able to get some things together for them that may help keep them caught up with the rest of the class.
